Where I wanna be in 10 years?

“I want to be on tour & be a choreographer for artists; specifically for live performances & music videos.

Women have long been relegated to the sidelines in the world of professional dance. Only a small percentage of dancers are female & those who do make a living dancing, are rarely taken seriously. It’s a vicious cycle, that has left women far behind in the field of their choice. But that’s changing.” Sarah exclaimed with a fire in her eyes.

Then continued, “Dance is an art form that requires a unique combination of physical strength, agility & flexibility. It requires years of training, practice & dedication; to develop the skills needed to perform in front of an audience. Over the years, many women have pursued careers in dance, but often face gender-based discrimination & a lack of gender parity in the industry. Women have been barred from roles such as leading roles & have had opportunities to perform reduced when compared to their male counterparts, despite being better dancers.”

Women have always danced, but until recently, they have rarely been recognized for their talent. Today, however, women are making their mark on the professional world of dance. Some, like Sarah Nicole, have made a name for themselves with sheer resilience and skills as others, such as Kaitlin Haught, have proved that the world of ballet is not limited to men. The women of today are redefining what it means to be a dancer & their influence is already being felt across the industry.
