Formerly of Migos, Kirshnik Khari Ball (June 18, 1994 β November 1, 2022), known professionally as #Takeoff, was an American rapper. Along with his uncle Quavo & first cousin once removed Offset.
The group scored multiple top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 including βMotorSportβ feat Nicki Minaj & Cardi B, βStir Fryβ, βWalk It Talk Itβ feat Drake & βBad & Boujeeβ feat Lil Uzi Vert, the latter of which peaked at the top of the chart (although Takeoff was not present on the single). He also received two Grammy Award nominations. The single quickly became an internet sensation, giving birth to a multitude of memes that played off the lyrics βrain drop, drop top.β The song got an even bigger boost after βAtlantaβ creator & star Donald Glover name-dropped the single during an acceptance speech at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.
βI really wanna thank the Migos, not for being in the show, but for making βBad & Boujee,ββ Glover said at the time. βLike thatβs the best song ever.β During a recent conversation on the podcast βDrink Champsβ just days before his death, Takeoff accepted accolades for his stellar performance on the new project.
βItβs time to pop it, you know what I mean? Itβs time to give me my flowers, you know what I mean?, Takeoff said. βI donβt want them later on when I ainβt here.β
