“There will always be someone willing to hurt you, put you down, gossip about you, belittle your accomplishments and judge your soul. It is a fact that we all must face. However, if you realize that God is a best friend that stands beside you when others cast stones you will never be afraid, never feel worthless and never feel alone.”
God’s love for us is incomparable and unconditional… His Grace is unbelievable, NO matter how bad you think you’ve messed up, I can assure you that there’s no condemnation in His eyes. Following repentance, you’re forgiven for the mishap, and the remembrance of the ungodly act is placed as far as the East is from the West… That’s why it’s IMPERATIVE to have an ongoing relationship with Him.
Update: 5/30/15
Here lately it feels as if I’ve somehow lost touch with God and He no longer has my back… That’s not the case at all! In fact, my overwhelming circumstances is pure evidence that He’s not only nearer to me then before. But, the unpredicted chaos is simply the enemy blowing off steam, in anger, as he rants and raves, disgusted at this awesome work God is preforming through me.
God is crafty, and Nooooooo matter how terrible things appear, don’t lose hope or sight of Him. Because there’s a plan in it all, and you’ll come out more than a conqueror if you faint not. The mess you endure in the interim is His way of building you up and giving you staying power. He can’t afford for you to be wimpy on His battlefield, especially when your task will be as heightened as mine… Talking people outta suicide, once their minds are made up, will be challenging unless I gain tough skin through all that I’m facing without falling away. Trained professionals sometimes fail at encouraging individuals that life is worth living. That’s why the tactics that Alone No More will utilize will only be God geared and fail proof.
Sending prayers ❤ :)Jen

Dear Da Ugly Ducklin,
I’m really sorry to hear about your experience at Sears, that is really hard when you have little and are looking for a place to sleep. I came across a scripture passage today that encouraged me and I thought might encourage you too in your fight against discouragement and the devil’s many traps:
“26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 that no flesh should glory in his presence.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-29)
So we may feel weak and down at times but never fear. God will make you radiant some day soon and you will shine with His glory in His presence.
If you have 5 minutes, I’d like to encourage you to read the following article:
http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0001/0001_01.asp
Just scroll down with your mouse to see the pictures.
It’s about God’s free gift of eternal life for all people, regardless of who they are or what they’ve done in life.
May He bless you.
Kind regards in Christ,
Naomi

Thanks for following my blog and for holding fast to the understanding that we are always accompanied – even when the going is real tough. I have been there and had a wee laugh to myself at you blog title. I certainly lived that story of the Ugly Duckling; knew alienation and its attendant depression to my core. I talk about all that now as ‘strength training’ for what God had in mind for me and it is my privilege now to be walking that path with love. I will now know that you and I walk together, both accompanied by the Holy Spirit.

I don’t know if you noticed, but today is my first time on here in a while. Since my last post, things got really bad for me, and I just totally shut down SMH. I was back sleeping in my car, but God helped me get into a shelter. However, this is a sixty day program, and I’m Praying for an extension in advance, before the day to leave even comes around, because I know I’ll have Nooooooo where to go, unless of course God works a miracle, and that’s exactly what it’d be, considering my financial situation. I did a craft switch at work, thinking it would be better for me, but it turns out that it’s the worst thing I could’ve EVER done to myself, and I absolutely have no clue which way to turn now ggggrrrrrrhhhhhh!!! Please keep me and my family in your Prayers, and I’m sooooooo haaaappppyyyy things are better for you now… Keep the Faith and remain encouraged.

I would indeed agree with you; more is needed. I only wanted to establish with the author of this blog that the teachings of many Bible Christians are often only a pious disguise of godless moral relativism and the sin of presumption, of the notion of salvation without merit. I would cite the Sermon on the Mount against this error, as well as the constant emphasis of morality in Christ’s teaching. STRIVE to enter by the narrow gate.

Absolutely, Jesus not only talked a good game, he lived it. He showed us that you can be tempted in every way as we are and yet say no to each temptation. Too many say “Well it’s just the way I am.” and don’t seek his help (or our brothers) to overcome.

Great! Then we agree. In order to be saved, one must do two things: repent and believe. Those are conditions for receiving God’s mercy and being saved. Thank you!

I almost agree with you, but I’m asking you to be clearer. Must the sinner repent if he or she is to be forgiven by God? Can a sinner who does not repent be forgiven? If not, then God’s mercy is received on the condition that one repents, then you must do something in order to receive divine mercy. It’s an extremely simple but important question, and the Bible answers it with consistent clarity.
LikeLike
Yes, we must repent each time we sin… Where the mercy comes in is the fact that our being able to repent it limitless, like we can mess up a hundred times in an hour (hypothetically speaking) and God will continue to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Now, because we still have our on will, we can purposely go right back out there and commit the same or worse act and cry out to God for Mercy and He’s just to help us, instead of being like “Nooooooo, I’m not helping you this time, you’re making a mockery of Me or taking My kindness for weakness” we don’t get any of that thrown in our faces. Nope!!! Actually, our sins are immediately placed as far as the East is from the West and they’re never to be reminisced about any more… There’s Nooooooo condemnation in our Heavenly Father… Hallelujah!!!
LikeLike
If one must repent and believe in order to be forgiven and eventually saved, then God’s love is not “unconditional”. Repentance and faith are conditions.
LikeLike
My point being, God’s mercy most certainly is conditional, and Christ taught this repeatedly. Repent or perish. Forgive us as we forgive. Unconditional divine mercy is just a pious expression for moral relativism and the sin of presumption.
LikeLike
Mercy by definition: compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.
I know firsthand that God is sure nuff Merciful and has Neeeeeevvvveeerr charged my sins to me in the way I deserved… I was terrible, but He always spared my life… Hallelujah!!! Even when I wasn’t following Him wholeheartedly He showed me Mercy during trials that I was going through, fighting to keep my freedom. I reiterate, I was loosely living and He never let me contract a deadly lifelong disease… That’s Mercy at its best, and I thank God any time I think about Him being GOOD to me in the pardon of my sins.
How I look at it, your friends and family can be judgemental at times, and downgrade, insult or purposely hurt us when we don’t measure up to their standards… Now that’s conditional love. But, our Heavenly Father loves us regardless, and will never leave us nor forsake us, even if we do foul up several times in a day even!!! That’s devoutly Mercy, without a shadow of doubt!!!
LikeLike
We ALL must repent for the wrongs we’ve done, and then stop doing it and move into total Salvation eventually/thereafter. If there’s no repentance then one would continue doing the things that separate them from God without care, consideration or remorse. God does in deed love us unconditionally, that’s why we don’t get punished the way we deserve or judged harshly following are ill actions. He’s merciful and only wants us to recognize that what we said or did was a complete no no, and ask for forgiveness and get it right from there!!!

No, they don’t see what you see. Experience is a great teacher, and some kids/people, more than others, have to experience everything for themselves and not take our cautions. I have one son (4 children altogether) who’s facing some time in a detox and rehab (by his choice) — and he started drinking at about 15 — a few years after I got sober (21 years ago). One daughter drinks, but the other two decided not to drink at all — but they’ve been busy having babies, or adopting them. The moment when God became my personal higher power did come when I was drinking. Acceptance and turning my will over the the God of my understanding was my way out. For good (so far). I don’t know why I escaped when others don’t, but I think it is because God has a plan for us — we don’t know what it is — but we just have to hang in there and follow where he leads. (I have 4 kids and 11 grandchildren, too!)

It’s technically called the Daniel fast. It’s how he fasted in the bible to show the reigning king the power of his God. You’ll also want to pray for whatever it is you’d like changed in your life while doing it. We did this with my daughter when she was having problems. We prayed every night. Before the fast was over our prayer was answered. It’s a sacrifice of your flesh. You actually gain more control over yourself as the fast goes on. It’s a detox as well. Once it’s over though I recommend you don’t go back to eating how you used to. You won’t have a desire to eat the old stuff but you’ll force yourself to do it.

Yes only fruit and vegetables. When your done you won’t want to go back. Also you’ll want to pray for something during that time every night. Like it says in the good book Jesus said “when you fast” not if. But just to back this up so I’m not some nut online trying to feed you garbage, there’s a book you should get so you understand what’s actually going on with your body as you go through the process. Everything in the world is based around knowing yourself first. Meaning know how you work, then you can figure everything else out around you. Here’s a link to the book. You can probably find a free download somewhere but I’m old school. Thanks for noticing my blog. I have moments when I think I can, and then moments when I tried and life basically exploded, and then moments when I’m afraid or wonder if it’s worth bothering to continue to try again. Nevertheless, I appreciate your words of encouragement and I respect your stalwart faith. When I was a child I loved God very simply and just knew that everything would be all right no matter what. When I was a little older I saw things happen that were miraculous and I believed it would continue. But now as an older adult that just hasn’t been my experience and I have frequent and serious doubts. I wish I could say I love God and He loves me, but I’ll honestly confess I’m trying to figure things out more and more. I’m just not sure how God is loving me right now, and I’ve been feeling this way a long time. I’m on some very unsteady footing and wish I wasn’t feeling like my faith is a smoldering, failing candle-wick about to go out. (Isa 42:3/Mt 12:20) I’ll only say maybe I can, just not sure how or why or whether I think it’s worth it or not. ~DM

Awwwwww, Peace be still!!! I BOLDLY come against ALL the enemies fiery darts he’s throwing your way, to cloud and confuse your mind. True, when things get overwhelming, it can appear that giving up altogether would be better. But, I’m a living witness that we can do it here on earth, with God at the forefront of our lives and by relinquishing all we’re going through to Him… We’re to totally cast our cares on Him, and leave them be. It deftly sounds easier said then done I’m sure. But, that’s what perseverance is ALL about. Continue on believing, never waiver in your Faith an inkling, and you’ll reap the benefits if you faint NOT.

Not everybody believes in God, especially the well ‘publicized’ Christian God. And let’s face it, you cannot just convince suicidal people to change their thinking by simply telling them about the enormous, unconditional love of a God or Jesus. It is, however, certainly a good try to help depressed and suicidal people by means of religious faith and conviction. This is one valid way, but there are many ways which are not based on God-talking.

You are so correct and I agree with you wholeheartedly, in regards to people having CHOICES. My Prayer though is that it (Alone No More) will in fact work out for the best in more cases then those that it fails in, if any failures occur at all. Thanx for your feedback… All insight is welcome. Enjoy the remainder of your day and may God Bless you immensely.

I agree that God loves us immeasurably. It was for that reason He sent His Son, Jesus, to redeem us from sin. By all means, share the Gospel and pray for those in emotional pain. For many, the world can be a very dark place. If, however, you plan — without professional training or support — to counsel those who are suicidal, you will be placing vulnerable people at risk. Depression is a powerful and tenacious illness. It distorts the worldview and clouds the judgment, even of those who love God with all their hearts. Please, reconsider. I would Neeeeeevvvveeerr do that!!! If you’re referring to Alone No More, that’s the reason for getting grant money, to hire professional counselors. That’d be playing with God, claiming that it’s a Godly Ministry, but we fictitiously act as though we’re trained ourselves to help…. Nooooooo indeed, My reverence for God wouldn’t allow a stunt like that.
Thanx for the comment, glad you asked this, maybe others have this sane concern. No worries, this ministry will line up with God no doubt

True, it is so easy (made possible by Satan) to think God no longer listens. He is so close to you than you can ever imagine. One thing that keeps me very close to God is His unbelievable FAITHFULNESS to His Word. Thank you for sending hope this raising post.

God is awesome, indeed He is!!! If I had to pinpoint one amazingly marvelous thing, amongst MANY, he performs in my life…. I’d deftly testify about He removes me from my earthly body, so to say, in the face of trials and tribulations; approaching in the form of utter disrespect. I mean I can literally be standing there while people are talking bad about me, laughing at me and hurling obnoxious insults at me… And it’s sooooooo weird how I hear His voice sooooooo calm and quiet saying “I gotcha, vengeance is Mine… Keep it moving” and the rude voices are so loud and destructive. I don’t know if you’ve ever saw the old movie “Carrie”, where they’re being really mean to her… Well her reactions is how I generally would’ve responded… But God!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s a keeper, a motivator, and sho nuff wonderful… He helps me move through all that disdain with my head still up, and smiling, opposed to being neither aggressive or sad, and walk around for the remainder of the day with my head in my lap, all depressed.
He’s definitely showing Himself Mighty in my life, and I love every second of it. People are intentionally doing things to irritate and aggregate me… To try and knock me off course. But, they keep forgetting I’m a devout Christian… A child of God, an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ Jesus. So, He hides me under the shadows of His wings and protects me from ALL forms of ungodliness, hurt, harm and danger… ” No weapons formed against me will EVER prosper!!!
BTW, I got emphasize this, that frfr let’s me know these are tests from above… Two things that’s sooooooo surprising is the first fact that some of the people that’s being the meanness to me is loved ones and long time colleagues SMH, that I’ve grown fond of over the years and had so much trust in and actually had developed a genuine love for… In the natural, the hurt me would’ve avoided them and vowed to never have any dealings with them again, and also do things as repercussion to get back at them. But, God has Blessed me to realize the battle is NOT mine, but His to handle.
Then the second thing that really trips me out is the people that are acting out are people that know very WELL the old me, and how I would’ve cut a shine, and pulverized each and every one of them individually. I once had problems with assaulting people really badly… When I use to fight I inadvertantly would go into kill mode, and be done beat the person into a bloody mess, before people would pull me off of them. I’m grateful for deliverance and change… Now I don’t ever have to deal with police and criminal charges, because I walk away from distractions and turn it all over to my Heavenly Father.
I don’t Glory in the bad things I once did in my life, to try and appear to be a gangster, I actually hate even thinking about or reminiscing with family, who think it’s cute, in regards to my past. I’ve totally relinquished everything I was, am, and will be to God, and the old me and everything attached to me is now washed away in the sea of forgetfulness, Neeeeeevvvveeerr to return again, and that’s a FACT.

We must always trust in God. He will never forsake us. When we feel the most disconnected from Him, we should know that that is when He is closest to us and by surrendering it all to Him, He will take care of it all in ways that are always dependent on His will and not ours.
Thank you for this post and I pray that God shows His faithfulness to you again and again. God bless you and this blog.

Thanks for the great post. I would be lost without God’s love. He gives me hope and brings light to the darkness I have often experienced. He’s blessed me beyond what I could ask or think. He goes through the tough times with me, I am never alone. When I first said, “God I’m sorry for all the wrong things I have done , please forgive me, help me change my life and be my Savior”, He changed my life, my perspective and even me. He is an awesome God. Thanks for following me.

Thanks for the follow. I believe there is no right or wrong and the number of rules and laws generated by those who govern round the world means that soon we will all be guilty of breaking one or other of man’s laws, inside or outside our own front doors. As for Sin which I find difficult to contemplate since each culture has its own values giving rise to one man’s right is another’s wrong but I believe that any thought word or act which has the potential to reduce, inhibit or deny the happiness of another would be seen by the Divine as wrong since the prime directive is man’s quest for happiness. Trick question: What do you think “amazing” grace means?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks for the short, encouraging word out on the internet. I agree that walking in forgiveness is the most important thing to do. While, I do agree it’s a sin…a sin can be also called a mishap (as you did), as one of the definitions of mishap is a small mistake. Sin is so all-encompassing, that it includes mistakes. Sin is a part of the fall. I think our society leaves sin for the “BIG” things like murder, when we need to know that we need to approach even our “mishaps” as sins. That’s just my take on it. (I agree with bography.)
I agree that using the word sin is important, (this is in response to the nice gentleman who is showing concern.) However, I think the important thing is that you are doing well is you are directing people to ask forgiveness for their shortcomings, mishaps, sins and anything that falls short of the Glory of God. He will forgive and he loves us!
Thank you for following my blog.

DCPassion, re your “Mishap,” you replied “Yes, just a mild word for sin I chose to use, didn’t wanna be harsh.”
I once asked the pastor of a Methodist Church I attende for two years why he never preached on sin, or mentioned the word. He replied “Those were the harsh old days.”
Here is Gerhardus Vos (“The Scriptural Doctrine of the Love of God”).
”
There can be little doubt that in this manner the one-sidedness and exclusiveness with which the love of God has been preached to the present generation is largely responsible for that universal weakening of the sense of sin, and the consequent decline of interest in the doctrines of atonement and justification, which even in
orthodox and evangelical circles we all see and deplore. But this by no means reveals the full extent of the danger to which the tendency we are speaking of
has exposed us….There is, however, still another serious defect to be noticed in this modern exploitation of the love of God, touching not the distinction of love from the other attributes, but the internal distinction between the various kinds and degrees of affection, which in the case of a relationship so infinitely varied as that of God to
the world are subsumed under the comprehensive term of love. The old theology was exceedingly careful in marking off these kinds and degrees from one another, and in assigning to each the group of objects upon which it operates.”

Yes we are saved by Grace dcpassion2009 not by our fleshy works, it is a free gift that we will show we have, many don’t know what True heart repentance is, they have a form of godliness but deny the power, we have been set free from the slavery of sin but they continue to choose to sin.
John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.
1 John 5:18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. or if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
1 John 3: 1-11 ( 6-7 ) Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man/woman deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

Thanks for the quotes.
What “sin” actually is, could be made clearer though.
What does, “… but they continue to choose to sin.” mean?
Who chooses? And what are they choosing? (especially if they don’t know what “True heart repentance” is.)
Who is “we” and who is “they”, in “… we have been set free from the slavery of sin but they continue to choose to sin.”?
